SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): A former employee of the National Dental Centre of Singapore (NDCS) who allegedly took photos of the breasts of 25 patients has been charged in a district court.

On June 13, Elgin Ng, 28, was handed 30 charges, including 25 charges of voyeurism.

He is accused of intentionally taking “top-down and bottom-up” photos of the victims’ breasts over a span of more than two years, from March 2022 to April 2024.

Details of how he allegedly committed these offences were not stated in court documents. The identities of the women cannot be revealed due to a gag order.

Ng is also alleged to have downloaded the photos of 42 patients from a system on a computer belonging to NDCS in 2022 and 2023.

Two charges also stated that he allegedly accessed the personal details of 18 patients from electronic dental records.

In addition, Ng is accused of sending voyeuristic images to a man on at least two occasions between May and June 2024.

In response to The Straits Times’ queries, NDCS said Ng is no longer in its employ.

“When this incident was brought to NDCS’ attention, we conducted thorough internal investigations and lodged a police report,” an NDCS spokesman said.

“Protecting the safety, privacy and data of our patients is of paramount importance to us,” the spokesman added.

“We take a serious view of data breach incidents and do not condone such misconduct. As this case is before the courts, we are unable to comment further.”

Ng has not yet indicated if he would plead guilty to his offences. His case was adjourned to July 8. - The Straits Times/ANN
